Weekends02: Second Contact

Summary:
  • Had dinner with Aliza, Steven Ong and Shih Peng (Steven's Wife).
  • Had breakfast with Steven and Shih Peng the next day.
  • Went to the Venice Beach.
  • Had fun.
  • Updated my shoelace asset.
9th Sept 2011 Friday,
At around 6pm Aliza took us to meet Steven Ong and Shih Peng at an asian restaurant I believe. After the dinner Aliza sent us home, Thank you all so much!

10th Sept 2011 Saturday,
Probably around 10am or 11am, We received a call that Steven and Shih Peng is heading downtown and asked if we wanna tag along.

We went past little Tokyo, went to Mellon Bank where we had a little time with Steven getting to know more about L.A and talk a little bit on our project.

He was saying that my finishing shot could instead of using an actual shoe I could do something like a cupboard cutout style on the wall. My shoelace would go through the cut out holes instead of going through a real shoe's eyelets. That would save a ton of time in preparing the digital shoe.

We then reached China Town for breakfast/early lunch.
We ordered like three plates for fried rice and the finisher was the awesome Leek Cake(Pan Friend) with drops of chili source.

We also managed to get rice and eggs. Rice are cheaper compare to Ralphs.

Thank you Steven and Shih Peng!

Head out to Venice Beach during the noon time. We took a bus down to Ocean Ave, walked towards Venice Beach, a nice long walk.

Venice Beach is pretty awesome, just gotta experience it.

I've also been emailing My buddy Bryan, A person I would consider Shi Fu Mr Douglas.
Regarding camera animations and Rigging.
Thank you for the inputs and suggestions to make my project better.

11th Sept 2011 Sunday,
Worked on modeling of my shoelace.

Screenshots.

Here are the controls so far.
  • User is able to set the model type to either be NURBS or Polygon.
  • Lace Tip's Height(Length) and Radius
  • Lace's Length, Width and Height(Radius, which defines how skinny or fat the shoelace look)
  • Offsets option, for a finer control of the lace shape.
Here are the network view.

And here are some screenshots of the shoelace asset in procedural action!

Things to implement:
  1. Generation of shoelace base on curves, so that the user could generate a bunch of randomized curves and gets a bunch of shoelaces from this asset.
  2. Shoelace material, User could specify to use solid colors, ramps or texture maps.
